Grand Knight Report January 2015
Dear Brother Knights,
I hope you all had and enjoyable Christmas season with lots of time with family.
January has several events coming up, first up is the Basketball Freethrow. By the time you read this it will be over. A big thanks to Andy Willrodt for chairing this event, and all the volunteers. We had over thirty participants. This is a great opportunity to engage the youth of our community. I would also like to thank the Boys and Girls Club for allowing us to use their basketball courts to hold the event.
Next up was the Blood Drive held on January 18. I would like to thank Tom Pflaumer for chairing this event again. Due to his continuing efforts this is always a great event. I would also like to express the council‟s condolences to the Pflaumer Family in the passing of Tom‟s Father, Harry Pflaumer.
Next up is the Family Unity Mass and Coffee and Donut sale. This will be on January 25th at the 9:00 am Mass. Please come and bring your family.
February will bring an early Lent and our Fish Fry, which begins on February 20th. So mark your calendar and plan on a Friday evenings with your fellow Knights and Church Community. I am looking for someone to mentor this year to take over the Fish Fry next year.
At our last meeting we had a presentation from Boy Scout Troop 611 in support of their Pasta Dinner Coming up in February. Our Council voted to donate $250.00 for the scouts to make up raffle baskets for the dinner.
We also had a presentation from Anne Interrante (a member of our parish) in support of the first annual Nun Run. The Run is to raise funds for the Sisters of Notre Dame Life and Ministry Fund. The run will be held on January 31 at La Reina High School starting at 8:00 am www.sndca.org/nunrun. It is a 5k and a one-mile run/walk. Other councils in our area also made donations to the fund. We voted to donate $500.00 to support this event. Sign up and enjoy a nice morning run or walk in Thousand Oaks.
If you haven‟t been to meeting recently please come to one. We are striving to keep the meeting on point to allow time afterwards for fellowship. Plus you will get to enjoy a fantastic dinner thanks to Mike LoCollo. At the last meeting he cooked ravioli with meatballs and sausage. It was a great dinner. If you didn‟t attend you missed a great meal. Thanks Mike.
Your Brother in Christ,
